There are fourteen (14) open PhD positions in methodological research in diagnostic/prognostic and therepeutic studies and meta analysis. The positions are available at different sites accross Europe. Open to any nationals. Deadline is April 25, 2012, position begins in May or September 2012.

Its my fifth year in Windsor, Ontario. This part of the world, geography does not change so frequently that you can notice. When I look back four years, I do not see much difference in the vicinity where I live than what it is now. Things change rapidly back home while time flies like a fast train here.
I believe its time to write some of my experiences about living in Windsor while studying statistics at the University of Windsor.
October 20, 2010 was celebrated as the the world Statistics Day. The celebration of the World Statistics Day acknowledged the service provided by the global statistical system at national and international level, and hope to help strengthen the awareness and trust of the public in official statistics. It serves as an advocacy tool to further support the work of statisticians across different settings, cultures, and domains.
I did not have Professor M R Bhuiyan as a teacher during my student life. He was a professor in the then Department of Statistics. Professor Bhuiyan is no more among us. He passed away on August 17, 2010. Innalillai Wa Inna Ilaihi Raaziun.
The news made me sad. I became nostalgic. I closed my eyes, and could only visualize a person walking alone slowly leaning towards the front, wearing a light-coloured shirt-- a man in his late 60s perhaps, with curly gray hair.
