Test your stat skills!

The idea of having a site to test students' skill on statistics is not new. Many web-based course management system has quiz modules. These course management systems are usually managed by the IT department of respective universities (or institutions). Generally speaking, students outside of a particular section/course do not have access to such resources. And not many instructors facilitates students with online exams/quizzes either.

Feeling the usefulness of a facility where students of statistics can learn and test their skills, I am introducing a site and calling it School of Statistics (SOS). The URL is http://www.sos.stattler.com.

Currently, I am intending the quizzes for my students in STAT 205 course in Winter 2010. Two sample quizzes have been posted and I am anticipating that a few more will be added during the next few weeks or so. A system for easier navigation of quizzes and contents is also at the planning stage.

Although the students in my course are the target population at the moment, I have left the site open for all. No access control is in place. Anybody with an internet connection can visit the site and take the sample tests. Any student taking basic statistics or elementary statistics courses at any college or university will find the site useful.

The site is at a very early stage now. Therefore, glitches and bugs are likely to appear. Your feedbacks will only enhance its functioning and usability.

Please spend a few minutes and visit the site. Take a test and have fun. THE SITE IS DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE AS OF April 15, 2010. A REDESIGNED SITE WILL BE LAUNCHED SHORTLY.

Hello Sir...took the test...it was fun attempting...I was really happy to see my performance on Normal distribution part, all of my responses were correct :) I was reliving my lost confidence on statistics for a while...but, it was very disappointing when I went for the sampling distribution section...and I am bad, seriously :(

Thanks for taking the quizzes. That encourages me to spend more time on creating new tests. By the way, I like the sampling distribution most.
