I met Kjell Doksum at the 2009 CMS Winter meeting!

His name always reminds me of his famous book with Peter Bickel-- Mathematical Statistics: Basic Ideas and Selected Topics  . We were taught this book in a graduate course that I took at University of Windsor.

I met him today at the 2009 Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) Winter meeting!

Thanks to Dr Nkurunziza who left the welcome reception early, leaving me with Professor Doksum to spend some 40 minutes together.

He talked about his early education and career at UC Barkeley, about his current work, and future plans. A retired professor from Barkeley, Dr Doksum is going to retire from University of Wisconsin, Madison in about a year where he is currently a professor.

I am looking forward to my talk on Sunday afternoon as he showed willingness to be present in it. Its a joint work with him and Prof Ahmed, my supervisor.

I hope to update this blog with some photos, if possible.
