2009 CMS: A meeting to remember

It was my first such meeting in Canada! 2009 Canadian Mathematical Society held their Winter meeting here in Windsor, ON, during December 5-7, 2009. My supervisor Prof Myron Hlynka arranged for my registration.

The meeting brought many distinguished mathematician from Canada and the US along with many statistician. I was particularly interested in the session organized by Dr Ejaz Ahmed, titled, "Matrix Theory and Statistics". There, I saw some famous statisticians.

The banquet on December 6th was the most attractive event of the meeting. When I and my husband and daughter arrived at the Canadian Club Room at the St Clair Centre for Arts, it was in a festive mood. Dr Ahmed welcomed us and we sat on the table next to him.

A few moments later, three persons came and asked me if they can sit with us. My husband was taking photographs of the attendees. When he returned he told me who these three persons are. They were none but three famous statisticians -- Prof Donald Fraser of University of Toronto, Prof Nancy Reid of University of Toronto and Prof Kjell Doksum of University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Obviously I was very happy to have dinner with them. I took photos with them and spent some extraordinary moments that evening.

Here are some of the photographs of the event.
