Symbolic Computation, Postdoctoral Research

The Mathematics Department at North Carolina State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in Symbolic Computation with an emphasis on Differential and Difference Equations. The postdoc will work under the supervision of Michael Singer. Prior experience in this area is preferred, but outstanding candidates looking to broaden their field of interest will also be considered.

Requirements for the position include: (1) A PhD in mathematics or computer science, or other closely related field is required prior to the start date; (2)Demonstrated research excellence; (3) Strong oral and written communication skills.

The position, starting in August 2011, is supported by the National Science Foundation and NCSU with a salary of $52,000 per year and standard benefits. The postdoc will be based in the Department of Mathematics and have teaching responsibilities of one one-semester course per year. The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal up to one additional year subject to satisfactory progress and mutual agreement.
